INTRODUCTION
Jonathan: Top 25 Bulgarian Questions You Need to Know - Lesson 4: What do you do? in Bulgarian. In each lesson of this 25 part series, you'll master a common question for Bulgarian learners, and then learn how to answer it like a native. You'll learn how these key phrases work by breaking them down into each component. Then through repetition and new vocabulary, you'll expand your understanding of the question, its answers, and any variations.

Jonathan: The first word in the question is

Jonathan: meaning “with" in English.
Iva: (Slow, by syllable) с
Jonathan: Listen again and repeat.
Iva: с

Jonathan: This pattern of first introducing a word at natural speed, providing the translation, breaking it down, and then giving it again at natural speed will be repeated throughout the series. Try to speak aloud as often as possible. The next word in the question is

Jonathan: meaning what.
Iva: (Slow, by syllable) какво
Jonathan: Now repeat.

Iva: (Slow, by syllable) аз
Jonathan: Now repeat

Jonathan: meaning (I) am.
Iva: (Slow, by syllable) съм
Jonathan: Now repeat.

Jonathan: meaning teacher.

★ Note that this is how you say “I’m a teacher” if you are a male person. If you are female person, you would say:

Jonathan: To make another phrase, replace teacher with painter.
Iva: художник
Jonathan: painter
Iva: (slow) художник (regular) художник
Jonathan: Listen to the phrase again, this time with painter
Iva: Аз съм художник.
Jonathan: It mostly stays the same. Simply replace teacher. Say I'm a painter.

Jonathan: This is how you say “I’m a painter” if you are male. If you are female, you would say:

Jonathan: To make another phrase, replace painter with doctor.

Jonathan: doctor
Iva: (slow) лекар (regular) лекар
Jonathan: Listen to the phrase again, this time with doctor
Iva: Аз съм лекар.
Jonathan: It mostly stays the same. Simply replace the {lang} for painter. Say I'm a doctor.

Jonathan: This is how you say “I’m a doctor” if you are a male person. If you are female person, you would say:

Jonathan: To expand on the pattern, replace doctor with athlete.

Jonathan: Listen to the phrase again, this time with athlete

Jonathan: It mostly stays the same. Simply replace the word for doctor. Say I'm a athlete.

Jonathan: This is how you say “I’m a athlete” if you are a male person. If you are female person, you would say:

Jonathan: Imagine you're an athlete. Respond to the question.
Iva: С какво се занимаваш? (five seconds) Аз съм спортист. (male) [Аз съм спортистка.] (female)
Jonathan: Now you want to ask that person what they do. Ask the question
