| The numbers from 21 to 99 are a combination of numerals we already covered. You need one tiny but essential word to combine them: the conjunction "and," which is a single sound in Bulgarian: и (i). |
| Let's construct some numbers with the help of our new friend, the particle и (i). |
| 20 is двадесет (dvaiset), 1 is едно (edno). |
| Hence, 21 would be двадесет и едно (dvaiset i edno), which literally means "twenty and one" and is translated as "twenty-one." |
| Based on the same logic, 27 would be: двадесет и седем (dvaiset i sedem). |
