Eric: Must-Know Bulgarian Social Media Phrases Season 1. Lesson 4 - Sharing a Song.
Eric: Hi, everyone, I'm Eric.
Tanya: And I'm Tanya.
Eric: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Bulgarian about sharing music or videos. Яна (Yana) shares a song she just heard at a party, posts a video of it, and leaves this comment:
Tanya: Всички подивяхме на това ретро. (Vsichki podivyahme na tova retro.)
Eric: Meaning - "We all went crazy at this retro song." Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.

POST
Eric: Listen again to Яна (Yana)'s post.
Tanya: Всички подивяхме на това ретро. (Vsichki podivyahme na tova retro.)
Eric: "We all went crazy at this retro song."
Tanya: (SLOW) Всички подивяхме на това ретро. (Vsichki podivyahme na tova retro.) (Regular) Всички подивяхме на това ретро. (Vsichki podivyahme na tova retro.)
Eric: Let's break this down. First is an expression meaning "we all got crazy."
Tanya: всички подивяхме (vsichki podivyahme)
Eric: As you remember, Bulgarian people often omit the personal pronoun in a sentence. This is because you can make the meaning clear by simply conjugating verbs in Bulgarian. But there’s one exception. When you use 3rd person singular, we need the personal pronoun to indicate explicitly the gender form, like you see in this sentence. Listen again - "we all got crazy" is...
Tanya: (SLOW) всички подивяхме (vsichki podivyahme) (REGULAR) всички подивяхме (vsichki podivyahme)
Eric: Then comes the phrase - "at this retro song."
Tanya: на това ретро (na tova retro)
Eric: When it comes to music, you always need to say “retro song” in Bulgaria. In Bulgarian, this is…
Tanya: да подивея,
Eric: Don’t be surprised if you get invited to a retro party. You will end up listening to music from your own school years. The definition of retro music has changed in the recent years, and now it means the styles and songs performed some 10 years ago. Listen again - "at this retro song" is...
Tanya: (SLOW) на това ретро (na tova retro) (REGULAR) на това ретро (na tova retro)
Eric: Altogether, "We all went crazy at this retro song."
Tanya: Всички подивяхме на това ретро. (Vsichki podivyahme na tova retro.)
