POST |
Eric: Listen again to Яна (Yana)'s post. |
Tanya: Най-хубавият ден с мъжа мечта до мен. (Nay-hubaviyat den s mazha mechta do men.) |
Eric: "The best day with the dream man by my side." |
Tanya: (SLOW) Най-хубавият ден с мъжа мечта до мен. (Nay-hubaviyat den s mazha mechta do men.) (Regular) Най-хубавият ден с мъжа мечта до мен. (Nay-hubaviyat den s mazha mechta do men.) |
Eric: Let's break this down. First is an expression meaning "The best day with." |
Tanya: Най-хубавият ден с (Nay-hubaviyat den s) |
Eric: While men don’t easily express positive feelings, women rarely hold back. They easily use superlative forms, such as "the best" or "the most beautiful," or talk about personal events, such as their wedding day. Listen again - "The best day with" is... |
Tanya: (SLOW) Най-хубавият ден с (Nay-hubaviyat den s) (REGULAR) Най-хубавият ден с (Nay-hubaviyat den s) |
Eric: Then comes the phrase - "the dream man by my side." |
Tanya: мъжа мечта до мен (mazha mechta do men) |
Eric: Women dream about getting married to their "dream man." Marriage for men, on the other hand, is as if they get shackled. This is a common stereotype. In Bulgarian, you can easily turn the word marriage into the verb "to discard, to throw for scrap." Therefore, it’s a common joke among close friends to say "they've been scrapped," instead of "they've got married." Listen again - "the dream man by my side" is... |
Tanya: (SLOW) мъжа мечта до мен (mazha mechta do men) (REGULAR) мъжа мечта до мен (mazha mechta do men) |
Eric: Altogether, "The best day with the dream man by my side." |
Tanya: Най-хубавият ден с мъжа мечта до мен. (Nay-hubaviyat den s mazha mechta do men.) |
