Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask the question, "When is your birthday?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to ask and answer about the date of an event.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Кога е твоят рожден ден? (Koga e tvoyat rozhden den?)
На 4-ти март. (Na 4-ti mart.)
Once more with the English translation.
Кога е твоят рожден ден? (Koga e tvoyat rozhden den?)
“When is your birthday?”
На 4-ти март. (Na 4-ti mart.)
“It's on March 4th.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say "When is [event]?"
The pattern is:
Кога е [event]? (Koga e [event]?)
“When is [event]?”
For example:
"When is your birthday?".
Кога е твоят рожден ден?, Кога е твоят рожден ден? (Koga e tvoyat rozhden den?, Koga e tvoyat rozhden den?)
Now, how do you answer this question?
На 4-ти март. (Na 4-ti mart.)
Listen to it again:
На 4-ти март., На 4-ти март. (Na 4-ti mart., Na 4-ti mart.)
This Bulgarian sentence translates as "On March 4th. We just state the date." But it means “It's on March 4th.”.
