Lesson Transcript

Hi everyone! I'm Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We've found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you'll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you'll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you good at?" After watching this video, you'll be able to talk about what you're good at doing.
Now, let's take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
В какво сте добра? (V kakvo ste dobra?)
Добра съм в езиците. (Dobra sam v ezitsite.)
Once more with the English translation.
В какво сте добра? (V kakvo ste dobra?)
“What are you good at?”
Добра съм в езиците. (Dobra sam v ezitsite.)
“I'm good at languages.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you good at?”
That's:
В какво сте добра? (V kakvo ste dobra?)
Listen to it again:
В какво сте добра?, В какво сте добра? (V kakvo ste dobra?, V kakvo ste dobra?)
This Bulgarian sentence literally translates as “In what are you good?” But it means “What are you good at?”.
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Добър/добра съм [skill]. (Dobar/Dobra sam [skill].)
“I'm good [skill].”
For example:
“I'm good at languages.”
Добра съм в езиците., Добра съм в езиците. (Dobra sam v ezitsite., Dobra sam v ezitsite.)
