Hi Huibert,

it is a valuable feedback and idea you provided and we will keep it in mind when working on new learning materials.

We also slightly increase the speed of the dialogues with the progress of the learning level. At any time through, you can manage it by the button to the right of the Play one, where you could increase or decrease the speed of the recording.

Best regards,

Tina

(About the accents in spoken Bulgarian)

Благодаря! I think it is a good thing to confront learners with a variety of accents, as in practice you will not only meet speakers with a standard pronunciation. However, it would be a good thing to introduce the particularities of these accents to the learners. For example, you could tell the learners what is happening to the Л in spoken Bulgarian and give some examples to prepare them. Another thing is to build up the talking speed more gradually.

Hi Huibert,

I do not speak Polish and unfortunately I cannot confirm whether you are correct with your analogy. I can confirm though, that your observation is correct. The way желал is pronounces in the phrase бих желал да is not standard pronunciation. However, a lot of Bulgarians have this accent. If you happen to listen to native speakers, you might notice it yourself.

Thank you very much for your observation.

Kind regards,

Tina

This dialogue was not too difficult. I have a question about the pronunciation of the man, however. When he says 'bih zhelal da vzema', the 'zhelal' sounds like 'zhelau'. Is this standard pronunciation? I heard this strong vocalization of the L also in other dialogues, It reminds me of the Polish Ł.
